Dell Servers without IDRAC
Hi Guys,
This new version is great and very fast with HTML5 like interface. But some of my customers are facing some problems:
1- Devices from Generation 11 (IDRAC 6) appears with Unknown Health Status on OME Console. Could be a limitation of WSMAN og G11/IDRAC6 ? Or a firmware version of IDRAC 6? In the old OME console (2.3), we have this behavior too and I use WSMAN+SNMP when SNMP gives the correct Health State. But, in the new OME, using just WSMAN for SERVER we cant get the correct Health State for IDRAC 6 devices. So, I´ll try to use WSAMN (default protocol) and use SNMP too (Advanced Settings for test.
2- Various customers dont have IDRAC (or dont use IDRAC now), indeed, these customers are using in-band managemet (OMSA) and so, using SNMP protocol to Inventory the Server devices in old OME. In the new OME this feature dont work: we cant Inventory Dell Servers with OMSA using the SNMP protocol. This will no longer be supported?
3- There is a prevision to have a OpenManage Enterprise version with Support Assist integrated? Today the customers that like to migrate from old OME to new OME need to maintain a VM with Support Assist and a new VM for the new OME in virtual appliance format
4- In the new version I havent found the option for Open Manage Mobile (OMM) in menu Application Settings
Thanks in advance

Hi and thanks for the post.
1. Yes, so Enterprise focuses mostly on 12/13/14G PowerEdge. We have limited support for 11G in terms of discovery, basic inventory, and SNMP alerting. As you point out, with Essentials you could use SNMP+OMSA to get rollup health, f/w updates, etc. which we don't have in Enterprise and 11G.
2. Correct, most in-band is not supported. The emphasis is on iDRAC/WSMan and, going forward, iDRAC/Redfish as well. There is some limited in-band support (SSH and Windows), but the setup on the end node is a bit burdensome (page 74 of user guide).
3. I'm pretty sure the latest Support Assist Enterprise 1.2 will include some support for Enterprise.
4. OMM is planning on adding support for Enterprise similar to how it works with Essentials. I don't have a date for that, but I know it is in plan as a priority.
Thanks much,
Rob
