OME wants to downgrade "14G SEP"

As a matter of fact it shows v4.27 being installed while v4.26 seems to be the current release dated April 2018 (which it also wants to downgrade to)

Confirmed by support site: https://www.dell.com/support/home/de/de/debsdt1/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=45M0N

Anyone know what's going on? (All our servers purchased end of last year are concerned, except one, but maybe that one was already downgraded without noticing)

Thanks.

(OME v3.1 + PowerEdge R640)

Same here ...

I use both OMEnt 3.1 and OME 2.5 - and if i enable  "Enable Downgrades" in OME 2.5 it also wants to downgrade this "Backplane 1" from 4.27 to 4.26 (and "Qlogic 577xx/578xx 10 Gb Ethernet BCM57810" from 14.07.06 to 10.01.00 !?!?).

So i suppose the problem in this case is in the catalog itself (Online).

Is there an option in OMEnt 3.1 to "Disable Downgrades" ?

Best regards

Hi,

There is no way to disable downgrades but you can definitely deselect the components that you don't want to downgrade. When you see the comparison report, deselect the components that are showing as applicable for downgrade and then perform firmware update. This should help.

Why is noone understanding why we are asking this?

Obviously there is a problem if the server contains a version that is nowhere to be found on the support site and in the online catalog. Version 4.26 is the latest one on the support site and in the online catalog.

1) Is v4.27 just not appearing on the support site?

2) Or has it been pulled back and we had better go back to v4.26 because there were problems with v4.27?

Hi,

The Non Expander Storage Backplane Firmware v4.27 is available at this link: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=9nkwp

I'll get in touch with the respective team to find why this firmware is not present in the catalog that you used. That said, could you please try deleting the catalog which you have in OpenManage Enterprise and download a new one to be sure that you are using the latest one.

@DELL-Pupul M Suggestion: Tell the respective team to list R640 under "Compatible Systems" for the 4.27 fw = Problem solved.
