Updating CMC firmware using OME ??
All,
I'm testing OME 3.0 in our lab environment and would like to update CMC firmware to the latest and greatest rev on our M1000e chassis. However OME doesn't indicate which CMC module is primary and which is standby. We've always updated the standby first then the primary . Is there a way to determine in OME which is the primary & standby CMC and if not how have folks accomplished this type of upgrade in the past ?
Regards,
TK

I'm not aware of anyway to identify the primary and standby CMCs specifically. I'm not seeing anything in the documentation to indicate otherwise, either. Looking at the console, it's only identifying the active CMC. If you run an update through OpenManage Enterprise, it should update the active, fail it over, and update the other.
If for whatever reason updating through Enterprise gives you trouble, updating through the CMC web UI is also a common strategy.
As a side note, the latest release of OpenManage Enterprise (at this time) is 3.3.1. You might consider upgrading to it.
