Dell OpenManage Server Administrator - Windows Server 2016

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a Dell OMSA that is compatible with Windows Server 2016 Core.  The latest one I saw is version 8.3 (64-bit) and Windows Server 2016 is not listed under Supported Operating Systems.

Thanks!

The latest version is 8.4 at this moment where Windows 2016 support is added. Take a look at http://delltechcenter.com/omsa

Does OMSA 8.4 support Windows Server 2016 Nano?

Tried OSMA 8.4 on 2016 standard with IE11 and IE11 won't even allow certificate bypass.

Have to use Chrome to bypass and local account only.

The AD plug-in (that is seen on logon screen with check box) fails as well.

When is OMSA going to catch-up with ciphers and certificates?

Thank you!

I am attempting to install 8.5 on a Nano server and I tried installing it using the commands I used on Server Core.  However, it doesn't work and I can't seem to find install directions for a Nano server.

Can you please help?

Sorry, I've not yet tested this feature.

Has anyone figured out how to install OpenManage 8.5 on Windows Server Nano?

Asked our Dell Engineer the nano question.

Answer:

On this moment there is no Nano support for OMSA. It's in development but he couldn't say when it will be released. You can use SNMP traps:

http://www.dell.com/support/manuals/us/en/19/dell-openmanage-server-administrator-v8.3/snmp_idrac8/iDRAC-Traps?guid=GUID-807DE509-3158-4103-9BB8-BE71C904295C&lang=en-us

The info about Dell OMSA supporting Nano was included by accident. OMSA does not support WIndows Nano at this moment.

We do however support the installation of iSM on Windows Nano, you can find the steps to install on Page 15 of install Guide : http://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/idrac-service-module-v2.4_install%20guide5_en-us.pdf

Thank you!

Can you please tell me which file I need?  I went to the Dell Downloads site and I downloaded iDRAC with LifeCycle, but that didn't work when using Add-AppxPackage.

Also once I install the correct iDRAC and run the command to install it, I can go into OpenManage Essentials and in the Discovery, type in the name of the server and check box "iDRAC (server out of band)"?  What is "WS-Man" credentials?

May 23rd, 2017 07:00

You can find information and the downloads on iSM on http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/w/wiki/11434.idrac-service-module

WS-MAN is used to discover and inventory iDRAC's Out of Band which is the preferred default.
