OME 1.2.1 and multihomed host
I have OME server in WIndows 2008. It has two network interfaces. I have server dracs behind both interfaces. I can poll dracs fine.
When I try to update server via drac some of the updates fail. Error message in drac side is RED005 (file not found etc..). I can download file from ome using browser, so file is there. Server updates goes thru firewall and when download to LC is successfull I can see connection in firewall logs. When download fails to RED005 error I cannot see connection attempt from drac to OME server. Question is how OME present it to drac that where drac should connect to download file? Is it using dns name or IP address and can I change it?

Hi and thanks for the question.
The iDRAC is not able to talk to the OME sever:
OME sends a url to the idrac and the idrac downloads from the uri. If there is a firewall in between the package is getting blocked. We are looking at changing this behavior in a future release but for 1.2 you can try to disable the NIC that is inaccessible from the multi-homed system.

Firewall ports are open and I log all the traffic so I can see if something is passed or blocked. I can see that OME talks to iDRAC. I can get status and diagnostics show that iDRAC is fine.
Can you tell me what is HTTP host part of the command where iDRAC should get data. Is it the IP address of the OME server or server name, example http://1.1.1.1:port/url or http://servername:port/url

So, there is communication is from the iDRAC to OME which could be the problem. Also the port number is 1278.

Yes I know that the DRAC connects the OME server using that port. You have great article where are all the ports which need to be opened. I have firewall between drac and OME server and I log all the connections, dropped, allowed, failed, incorrect etc.. all connections. I do not see any connection from drac to OME server.
My question is that how OME server tells drac to download packages. Is it http://servername.domail.tld:1278/url or http://IPADDRESS:1278/url? When download is successfull I can see the connection from firewall logs.

Just upgraded to 1.3 version. Now it shows that OME command DRAC to download software using IP address.
Still I found couple log entries where this happens:
Results:
Downloading Packages.
Calling InstallFromUri method to Download packages to the iDRAC
Downloading Package: ESM_Firmware_VM84T_WN32_1.51.52_A00.EXE onto the iDRAC
Package download has successfully started and the Job ID is JID_944858660024
The URI given to the iDRAC to download from: http://:1278/install_packages/Packages/ESM_Firmware_VM84T_WN32_1.51.52_A00.EXE
Hard to download something when you do not have IP address.

Hi,
Just to understand, is your OME host connected to multiple networks?
And does your OME server has access to all the required ports in the various networks?
I have never seen this in the logs and it shows the IP address as well. Since the package download has started, what happens after that? Does it show anything else in the logs?
More information will be needed to understand the configuration to figure out exactly what is going wrong. Can you please log a trouble ticket @ 800-945-3355 ?

Hi
Yes it is connected to two different network. Some of the update procedures there is a ip address, but some times there is not. I already have one ticket open so I can add this to it.

Problem still exist in 1.3 version. Even with other network interfaces disabled.
I have case open.

Thanks for the update.
If you have a multi-homed server you _must_ have the interface binding order set properly or Windows will send the network traffic out of the wrong interface.
