01/00/0:Error allocating I/O bar for PCI device

While I was either reading email or on a trusted web site, the subject error message came up.  The computer turns on but I just get a black screen.  This is a Dell desktop 4600C series, Intel Pentium 4 Proc. 2.66GHz; Level 2 Cache: 512 kB integrated; BIOS version A04.  Can someone tell me what's needed to fix this?

Hi JohnD24,

This error seems to be caused by a few different things, so my suggestion would be to look through these search results for ideas.

Thank you.  I'll check for the out of date card.  The computer was purchased in late 2004.

Bar for PCI Device is conflict with IRQ or other Device on the bus. Usually Audio cards or Video Capture/TV Tuner cards.

The conflicting  Card  may be a PCI 2.1 5V card.

5V PCI is not supported anymore in any computer .

Only 3.3V pci 2.3 cards are supported.

When was last time you replaced the motherboard battery and/or cleared BIOS?
