2015 XPS 13

New 2015 XPS 13.  3200x1800 display Love it.  Using Dell External Monitor - 24" 1920 x 1080.  XPS out of the box is set at 3200x1800 with Text set at 250%.  When I hook up Monitor, everything real big.  I scale down to 100% on the XPS and all looks ok on the External monitor by XPS icons extremely tiny.  When I detach my XPS, have to reset back to 250%.  Any way to make this easier?  Is this the best solution?  Would a P2415Q Dell 4K monitor solve this problem?

Set text at 100% and then go to the video control panel and set the resolution to 1920*1080, the resolution of the external monitor. This monitor can not display more pixels. You may or not be able to use a 4k monitor. Search on the web to see what others are successful with. Also look for what others are doing with higher resolution monitors. A 4k HDTV is probably the cheapest way to display the high resolution. You will need a large screen to take advantage of this resolution without going blind. Again, do the research first.
