3 year old dimension e520 upgrades

i have a dimension e520, and i don't have a clue what type of video card to install. Intel r pentium r, 4 cpu, 3.00 ghz. It is an oldie lol. i need to figure out what kind of video card i can use. I have 2 pc1 slots, and 1 pc1ex16 and i think one pce. Not sure. Can anyone help me? i have wasted money on cards that don't work. I only have 1 gb of ram, but am going to install 4. My sister ordered this for me 3 years ago, so i really did not pick out the components.

You just need a PCI Express x16 video card.  Do not get a PCI card (Slots 15).  I do not know what your purpose is for a video card so it is hard to make a recommendation.  Popular video cards today are the ATI HD 4670, ATI HD 4650 and Nvidia 9500GT (listed in order of performance) for your particular system.  If you are not into 3D gaming, you can get something below these.  Your board is shown here and you can see that the video card (PCIe x16 interface) would go into slot number 13 with the release lever.  These cards generally cost $50 - $70.  You can look at Newegg.com (4670's listed) for buying any of these.
