4300 Upgrading to 5900XT

Current System:
Dimension 4300 (not S)
Pentium 4 1.6ghz
512mb SDRAM PC133
Radeon 8500LE 128mb
Windows XP
Catalyst 4.9

I've been told the best way to get more frames out of my aging system is to upgrade to the 5900XT (primary game i play runs OpenGL not DX).

1.Will the 4300 run the 5900XT

I've been looking at getting another 512mb or PC133, will the 4300 support cheap ram, i don't want to have to spend 100$ a stick.

2.Does the 4300 support generic PC133?

I doubt it will run with the powersupply that comes stock.  You will probibly have to upgrade that, once u do video card update should work flawlessly.

It says that 4300 comes stock with a 130watt power supply.  To run most high end graphics card they require usually around 300 as a minimum.  If you try to instal that card on your comp without upgrading power supply, your computer won't turn on.  Dell makes it hard to upgrade power supply but there are sites that sell dell power supplies online.  Try this one http://www.pcpowerandcooling.com/products/power_supplies/selector/

All you need to do is upgrade power supply.

Honestly I'm not sure, I didn't think you needed a certain amount of RAM in the first place to run a video card.

If you want to update ram I would first suggest getting it off of www.newegg.com they seem to have very cheep prices for quality ram.  If you want a good brand for RAM I would suggest either corsair, or kingston.
