56k modem
I recently acquired a dell 530 s inspiron desktop ,manufactured in 2008. I want to connect to the internet with a dial up connection, is there a 56k modem in this computer? I see 1 place for a phone jack, but I think its a Lan port ,can anyone tell me? Thanks!

It is an Network adapter RJ-45 ethernet port, not a phone jack. You can add an external modem or an internal phone modem card. Lots of used ones around since they are rarely used now.

I connected my phone line erroneously to the ethernet port with the computer on,do you think it did any damage?
