A new graphics card for the Dell Dimension 5150?

I currently have a ATI Radeon X300 SE 128MB Hyper memory graphics card. I use XP and have 1GB.

Could someone suggest some graphics card upgrades for me? I have no idea where to look for this type of thing, especially now my computer is so old.

I want to upgrade the RAM too. Is this okay... http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&sku=A1476351 ?

I think your model is very similar to my Dimension E510. I just put in a 1gb Geforce 9400gt fanless card, and I didn't have to change the power supply. I think the 9500gt and 9600gt will fit in also. Some video cards won't fit because of the processor heatsink shroud.

What type of ram do you have now? I tried some PC2-5300 memory in my computer 2 years ago and it showed up as 533 mhz in the Set Up program. As far as I know the 667 mhz memory gets slowed down to 533 mhz on your computer too. They have some 1gb modules of PC2-4200 here: http://www.computermemoryoutlet.com/Dell-Dimension-5150-memory.htm . Unless you have a 64 bit operating system it doesn't do much good to put in more than 3 gb of ram.

Welcome to the forums :emotion-21:

Re the graphics upgrade:  Telling us your budget, will narrow down the 1000's of available options, to 100's :emotion-55:

You can theoretically use any PCI-E card.

But if there's limited room inside the (mini-) tower case, you'd be best advised getting a low profile card - such as the one advised above.

They're available from all good online stores.

If you can confirm you're from the UK (as your link suggests), we can provide some links to specific cards - if necessary?

Re the RAM:  It's available a lot cheaper than Dell sell it for!  You can get 4GB for not much more than Dell are asking for that 2GB!

For example... 1x 2GB Crucial PC2-5300 - just £18.39 (4GB is only £36.79) :emotion-5:
