AX510, Inspiron 530 & E228WFP monitor
I purchased the AX510 sound bar & have it connected to (1) power supply and (2) CPU through the one cable (mint green connector). It has power, but I'm getting no sound. I updated the driver (I believe) and still no sound. Any advice? The other forum posts don't seem to apply to this same monitor model.
TIA,
Liz

Hi chemicoons
Welcome to the Dell community.
In order to get this sound bar working you can try these steps:
1. Turn the power On the Sound Bar; check if the power indicator (White LED) on the front of the Sound Bar is illuminated.
2. Make sure that there are no headphones or any other device plugged in front port of the system.
3. Set all Windows volume controls to their maximum.
4. Turn the volume to higher level by turning the Volume Knob Clockwise on the Sound Bar.
5. To check if the back ports are working, you can plug in headphones and check.
6. Test the Sound Bar with a different music source (for example, a portable CD player).
Please revert back with your observation.
Glad to assist you.

Just as an FYI, this soundbar is replacing a broken one (slightly older, unavailable model) and sound system (subwoofer & rear speakers) that came with the Inspiron 530 when purchased. The previous soundbar had two plugs into the back of the CPU & connected directly to the subwoofer as well. This new soundbar has one plug into the back of the CPU and a power supply. So quite different.

No sound with headphones plugged in the bar either. All volumes are on & up. I even tried different applications that have sound. Nothing.

Hi chemicoons
Welcome to the Dell community.
Let’s isolate the problem as it could be an issue with the system or with the sound bar.
• First plug in the power cable to the sound bar and make sure the power LED is ON
• Then connect the mint green connector of the sound bar to an IPOD or any other sound source apart from the system and check if you get sound
This would help us to isolate whether the issue is with the sound bar or the system

Glad to assist you.

It isn't easy ( the connector to the iPod isn't a tight/good connection, but if I wiggle it, I sure can hear sound.

Hi chemicoons
Welcome to the Dell community.
Thank you for your response in regards to my query. If you are getting any sound from the sound bar that means that the sound bar is working fine and it could be an issue with the rear port or the sound hardware as well.
Further what you can try is:
1. Try connecting the sound bar on the front port and see if you get sound
2. If the front port is not working then you can run a custom test on the audio from the following link:
http://dell.to/hf0l1E
Follow the instructions to run the Custom test on the audio and check for error messages.
Please revert back with your observation.
Glad to assist you.

Thanks, the front port works so I'll go with that!
