Adding an SSD drive to a Studio XPS 435T (not MT)
My XPS 435T has 5 SATA ports, and I have two hard drives and two DVD drives right now, and am planning to add an SSD drive. I did some searching and was concerned by some threads here that say the 435MT (I own the 435T) does not support AHCI and thus would need an add-on card to support SSD drives. But since I have the 435T, perhaps this won't affect me. I also checked my BIOS settings and SATA is set to AHCI, which probably means I am good here.
But could someone confirm this please? How do I verify that I can connect an SSD and get it working? I thought it'd be a good idea to verify this prior to buying one. I am also wondering if I also need to buy the 2.5 to 3.5 casing kit to add the SSD to my desktop tower.
On that note, any suggestions for an SSD disk are also welcome. Right now I am looking at a Samsung 250 GB SSD. Thanks.

I have the XPS 435T and it does support AHCI and it has an SSD as the boot disc. No issues

As a follow-up question, I guess you'd only have got 3 GB/s and not 6 GB/s as the 435T probably has SATA3G and not SATA6G as the new ones do?

Ok, apparently it's 3 GB/s. Not surprised though.
