Adelphia Powerlink

My Dell 8200 with WinXP only connects to the internet about half the time on bootup or restart. I'm using Adelphia Powerlink with a Terayon modem. Adelphia says my network card has to be on IRQ 5, 9, 10, or 11 for their modem to work with XP. My card is on IRQ 18. Dell says the IRQ's cannot be moved or reconfigured. I've tried a 3Com and a Linksys card with no change. What is the solution here? Help!

I have Adelphia PowerLink with a Linksys Card. I have just recently subscribed to Adelphia PowerLink (3 weeks) with a cable modem hookup. I am using a Surfboard 4100 modem. Most of the problems that I have experienced are caused by Adelphia PowerLink. This includes not being able to get on the Internet, or send or receive e-mail. I have to Release/Renew my IP Configuration almost everytime I use e-mail or the Internet and/or reboot the modem. Adelphia as they explained it for my area says they do not have enough Broadband and they are working on the problem. Are you sure that your problems are not related to Adelphia rather than your computer? Adelphia has also capped the speed at 500K in my area.

Adelphia's "service" is laughable. Either email or the internet, or both, are out every day. They did increase bandwidth here and have no cap, but the service is very inconsistent at best.
My problems, however, occur all the time, even when Adelphia is actually working. It's possible ZoneAlarm is my problem - I'm checking into that now.

I agree with your statements concerning Adelphia's PowerLink. I have been frustrated with their "no service" and "slow service" at times- like everyday. I am also running ZoneAlarm and do not seem to have a problem with running this firewall with Adelphia's PowerLink. Best Wishes and I hope you find the answer to your problem. You may want to post under Dimension/Modem.
