Advanced patterm test fail WME02-IQ8
Hi
After Dell 2320 started playing up i did the health check and the one at start up (F12) and to start off with it said the MXM fan failed. Not knowing what this was i decided to have a looking in the pc which was very dusty. Found where i believe the MXM fan is, and vacumed the dust of it, which seems to have cured this ?
However, also from the first health check it failed on the Advanced pattern test WME02-IQ8. What is this and how do i fix it.
Thanks

Hi
I took my 2320 to a repair center and it turned out that the ram was faulty and had to be replaced. A 4gb and 2gb.
I am a little confused as to what would cause this and to be honest the computer shop didn't have much of an idea, however it is working again.
I am still not happy with how fast the fan run though when my boy plays minecraft. I assume the pc must get quite hot when running graphics.
Any upgrades possible to the fan or colling ?

Hi Blakeys7,
That error pertains to your RAM. What sort of problems are you having?

Hi. Thanks for your reply.
It started out with the pc shutting down then when re booted it performed a scan etc. From there i decided to run the diag programs.
To start off with it it failed on the mxm fan and memory. Then after a good clean from around the mxm fan it seemed to cure this problem.
I think as my son plays minecraft, whilst on skype and youtube at the same time, the computer gets very hot as the fan cuts in and is quite noisy but not in a faulty way. This must draw in a lot of dust etc.
But as for the ram issue. Currently i cannot see any problem. My boy is using it at the mo and it seems fine although it still fails the advanced pattern test.
I did perform recommend updates to bios etc as suggested by dell.
With the computer getting hot and the fans having to work hard. It makes we wonder if there is an upgrade to help this
Many Thanks
Colin

Heat problems can sometimes be solved with a BIOS update. I would check downloads for any BIOS update.

Hi.
I updated to the latest version earlier. Calmed the fan down a bit although when a game is on it runs quite fast although maybe this is normal.
Still reading a fail on advanced pattern test and now checker board test. Does this mean i need to replace ram ?
Also installed some anti virus software (avg trial) which got rid of some stuff but this hasn't affected the memory fail
Any ideas

Viruses do not cause RAM hardware failures. My suggestion would be to run a dedicated memory test utility like MEMTEST from a bootable flash drive to verify the result.

RAM is susceptible to failure just like any other component. Good to hear it's working!

I also ran My Dell and failed the Advanced Pattern Test, but I got error WME02-IKE.
Can't figure out what it means either or what to do about it.
Big help that is. Why not have a link to useful explanation Dell ?

Hi mcrodgers2,
Please boot to the F12 partition and run the Dell diagnostics on your desktop. Run the express test and write down any errors. When you post back to tell me what you found, I also need to know the model of your desktop.
