Alienware AlienFX crash on boot (Dell 730x)

Howdy!

For several weeks now, the "Alienware AlienFX Controller" has been crashing on every boot. 

The only thing I recall changing is installing Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and the .NET framework v4. But I'm far from certain that this is the problem.

I searched the support site without any success and I'm not offered an update for my Dell 730x.  Does anyone know where to find updates or a fix?
