BIOIS update crash
BIOIS update crash 5/24/09
I have a Optiplex GX280 and the BIOS rev was ( or is ) AO4 and I have been getting a Blue screen error message when the system closes all the files but does not shut off.
The error message referenced the BIOS may need updated.
I found a BIOS rev AO8 on the Dell support download site, so I downloaded it and saved it to my desktop as called out in the instructions.
I then executed the BIOS update utility I had downloaded . I then answered the prompts as per instructions and the system was to do a reboot after flashing the BIOS change . The blue screen error message from my original error appeared and the system did not reboot. It just hung there.
The only option I had was to restart the system by powering down and on again.
I receive 1 beep 3 beeps and then 2 beeps from the system, and the fan is on high speed, but the system does not boot. It just hangs.
Tried to boot from ROM and floppy drives with no success.
Need help big time,
Rudy

Hi Rudy0507, Your manual is HERE ( opened at beep codes ), check your memory is sitting properly and the connectors are clean.

Wish I could say this worked.
It did not. Maybe need to do a BIOS reset?
Tell me how

You might try moving the RTC jumper, powering on/off, moving it back, power on.
