CPU Speed or L2 Cache?

Hey y'all,

A quick, generic, upgrade question:

I'm looking to upgrade my M60 Pentium M 1.4GHz 1024K L2 cache processor. I've seen a bunch of cheapo 1.8GHz chips, but they only have 512K L2 cache.

What's more important - speed or cache size?

Cheers!

Honestly both have a large impact.  But I would not go for a 512K Cache on an Intel CPU it will choke it.  I would go for one of these 1.8's with 2MB Cache.  $300 but I would say its well worth the extra bucks for the extra cache.

Cool - thank you for that.

I'm actually in the UK, and am seeing 2MB cache CPU's for quite a bit more than $300. Stoopid UK!

I'll take your advice though and keep an eye out for fatter cache sizes. Thanks again - you've probably saved me some bucks on a stoopid 512K processor!

Ouch =/

Wonder why the 2MB ones are more across the pond?
