Can Dell studio XPS 435MT support core i7 970 6 cores inside ?
Hi everyone , I just bought core i7 970 6 cores , but when I installed it to mobo , then pressed start button , the mobo sound " beep beep" ..... And the system can not run . So I don't know the problem came from CPU or Dell mobo did not support 6 cores . If anyone know , Please help me .
Thank so much .

The 970 will not work. 960, 965 & 975 are supported. Hex core is not supported. It was run on a 32nm line and is not compatible with the chipset on the 435MT.
From Intel's page "The Intel X58 Express Chipset supports 45nm Intel Core i7 processor family at 6.4 GT/s and 4.8 GT/s speeds"

What cpu did it originally come with?
Normally a bios update that contains the correct microcode is required for the mb to correctly recognise the cpu. Whether dell has bothered with this I don't know.

The Dell Studio XPS 9000 (formerly XPS 435)
Why do you think you need an upgrade?
The 970 requires Faster Ram than the 920.
There is no overclocking on this PC.

So you are saying that it the Mobo should support up to a i7-960, do you know if the A16 Bios which is the latest one for this model has the CPU codes for it?
