Can't find Video drivers for Optiplex 790 SFF.
Tried all the drivers from Dell's website. 3 of them were AMD and 1 of them were Intel HD Graphics. 1 of them was right from Intel's website that did not work. With every driver I can't change resolution because it is grayed out and the display is all squished up skinny like. Am using the standard vga adapter. With this driver I can't see the memory used for the adapter and it will only do Photos as a screensaver. Why isn't there a right driver for this desktop.

Try Device Manager and see what video you have. The standard on your model was Intel Integrated Video. The AMD drivers are for a separate video card not integrated video. The driver on Intel site is not the same. Dell customizes the Intel drivers for the motherboard on your computer. Use Dell's driver if you have the standard video.

I have Windows 10. I have tried the Intel driver from Dells website. I also went to Intel and try those for my device. I also let Windows look load that device. I tried 3 AMDs too. All of them gave me a skinny screen, no resolution change(grayed out) and the computer not responding well. It did tell me what what my video memory was. I uninstalled each one that loaded skinny and the desktop resolution worked fine and could change the resolution but did not get the info on video memory and could not run screen savers except for photo screen saver. Am I repeating myself? Yes I am. So so far this information that I am getting from you will not work. I have been doing computers since 1999 and am no newby.

Hi forjonny,
Thanks for posting.
Unfortunately this model is not supported with Windows 10. Some users have been able to get it to work, but Dell does not support this. Here is their experience:http://dell.to/2wR3Gsv

After five years of active service, the ATI Radeon™ HD 4000, ATI Radeon™ HD 3000, and ATI Radeon™ HD 2000 Series products reached peak performance optimization on October 15, 2013, and were transitioned to a legacy support lifecycle. No additional driver releases are planned for these products.
Older WDDM drivers require other parts to be installed. Including but not limited to Directx 9 and 10 patch from June 2010, as well as DOT NET 2.0 3.5 features and legacy direct play.

You download the file and put into a folder to extract. Then run DXSETUP.EXE as administrator.
Chipset Drivers are also required for OLDER systems.
Most of the older Radeon HD series as well as a few of the R5 series are now legacy. This means the auto detect feature in 10 and from AMD WILL NEVER WORK for these older cards.
Dotnet and Legacy Direct play is added back Via control panel, Add features to windows, you make the check boxes a check not a black square. YOU MUST BE ONLINE to do this because it will download the features from windows update.
in control panel, all control panel items, programs and features.
1. Right click Start
2. Click Programs and Features
3. Click Turn Windows features on or off
4. Make sure there is a check in Legacy Components
5. Click the + to expand
6. Check the box for DirectPlay
7. Do the same for DOTNET 2.0 3.0
There are also admin command line ways to do this
dism /image:C:\ /enable-feature /FeatureName:"DirectPlay"
CCC Catylyst Control Center is a DOTNET application which is why 2.0 and 3.5 must be installed BEFORE trying to install the legacy video driver for HD 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, series.

Yep, I got all those drivers. Just that the Intel display drivers are not working like they should. Tried the older version of the driver as well. So I loaded the stupid drivers what 6 times now.

Latest Bios Applies to Windows Vista , 7 ,8, 10
CHIPSET Drivers Apply to VISTA , 7, 8, 10
I do not think you have installed Chipset or DXSETUP or INTEL ME or or or or.
ALL CHIPSET DRIVERS ARE REQUIRED.
DirectX 9 and 10 June 2010 is STILL Required for Windows 7 , 8, 8.1, 10.
Dell system detect and AMD detect and any other detect is Not working and Never working EVER again.
Request Denied. End of transmission. Windows 7 is EOL EOS. Windows 7 SP1 is fast approaching EOL EOS.
Legacy Status still applies as well as the Control Panel Add features back to windows and the Legacy direct play and the DOTNET. In the case of Windows 7 however you can download a standalone installer for DOTNET 4.7
The Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7 is a highly compatible and in-place update to the Microsoft .NET Framework 4, 4.5, 4.5.1, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, and 4.6.2.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3186497/
Once All chipset drivers, USB3 drivers and Directx June 2010 and DOTNET 4.7 are installed you have to download 6,573 other updates over 237 reboots over the next 8 weeks. This is NOT going to be a 35 minute install.

Updates that have failed to install will display Failed under Status, next to the update name.
Unable to install updates in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2
