Cannot adjust volume on speakers (Dell A525)

Dell Dimension E520 desktop running Vista Home Premium.

Sound comes through speakers fine but I can only adjust the sound in Windows now.

I think this happened after the SP1 installation but I am not sure.  Used to work fine and I did not change any settings.

The driver is SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC version 6.10.0.5290 and is stated to be the newest one available when I search for an update.

Please let me know if you can help or if you need more information - thanks!

If the volume control on the speakers does not work, the problem is in the speakers, not the PC or sound card.  Check all the internal cabling in the speaker system to make sure all cables are fully and correctly connected.

Hey firebird, the volume control on my A525 speakers was woking fine and now all of a sudden it works very little now. There is very little difference between low and high setting, so now I have to adjust the volume through the audio manager which is a drag.  Do u have any suggestions?
