Cleaning the cooling fans

How do I clean the fans at the front of the case on my xps 630. Can the front grill be removed or do I have to clean from the inside?

Thanks!

John,

Your best results will come by removing the front pannel to clean the cooling vents and actually removing the fan and cleaning it with a little rubbing alchohol and qtips.  Dell is great becuase they make removing the case fans easy.  Most are simple snap in with no screws and a few have 2-4 screws to remove in order to get to the fan.  I clean my Fan about once every 2 months as preventive maintnence.  If you keep it clean it will prolong the fan life.  While you have the case open I suggest cleaning any dust in there as well with some air in a can.  Start from the top and blow to the bottom and I use a paper towel with a dab of water to wipe the bottom clean.  By removing the dust in the case it will slow down the collection on the fan.
