DELL INSPIRON 3268 DESKTOP NOT CONNECTING DUAL MONITORS P2017H

I just received my desktop Inspiron 3268 today. I have two monitors both  dell p2017h.

I am unable to set up dual screen with these monitors.

I have tried to connect a vga cable from the desktop to monitor 1, then use a dp cable to connect both monitors.

Monitor 1 works fine, monitor 2 states : NO DP PORT CABLE, THIS DISPLAY WILL GO INTO POWER SAVE MODE IN 4 MINUTES.

THE ONLY SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME WAS CONNECT VGA FROM DESKTOP TO MONITOR 1 AND CONNECT HDMI CABLE FROM DESKTOP TO MONITOR 2.

please help

fyi i have also tried multiple cable swaps, restarting pc.

That is the only way to have dual monitors using the onboard video. As you know VGA is less than ideal. You can try to find a mid range low profile discrete video card with dual monitor support. It will be hard to find video cards for your small model desktop. You cannot fit or run big high powered cards in your model. You have a limited psu and very limited space in the tower. Make sure to measure and check power requirements.
