DELL INSPIRON 560 won't allow boot to CD or CD

I have tried everything I can find to do but the CD and USB boot options are both disabled in the setup bios F2. I can find no way to enable them.

When the battery is bad and AHCI isnt set this will happen.

Get a new DL2032 battery and then set the correct date and time and set AHCI.

Installed a new 2032 battery set sata to AHCI and updated the date and time and it still shows both USB & CD boot as disabled. Any help out there?

Thanks for the update. In the BIOS under Boot Device Config, does it say "not installed" under each section of the boot priority, and then no way to rearrange the order (I know you said disabled but just wanted to make sure I am not missing something)? Also, are you still able to attempt diagnostics on the system from the F12 menu? If so, it might be worth a shot just to see if it shows anything.

Best regards,

Brad

OK from F12  Diagnostics run and find nothing.

From F2  boot Device Config goes like this. - all items have a Enter beside them

Removable Boot Priority - not installed

Hard Disk Boot Priority- shows as OK

CD/DVD SHOWS THE DRIVE IF i hit enter it shows disabled

Network Boot Priority - shows not installed

USB Boot Priority shows the drive but hit enter and it shows disabled.

I drop down to 1st. boot device and hit enter and it shows

the hard drive  then going down

shows the usb

then the cd/usb

then network

then removable device

then at the bottom -disabled

I was able to move the CD/DVD up to the 1st. position  and then tried to restart usig F12

boot priority but it just starts the PC normally.
