Dell AIO 942 photo printer
My printer no longer seems to be connected in any way to my computer and does not print.
I get messages saying Dell 942 AIO drivers are not downloaded on this computer, before you can print you need to select a printer,
I have tried absolutely everything and have even had a printer expert in who says something must be wrong with the printer itself. He tried downloading drivers but nothing worked. he went into parts of my computer that I never knew existed.
Before I throw the printer out of the window can anyone help me please?

Check all the cords--power, usb-- at both ends. Unplug them and hold the power button down on the printer for 10 seconds then plug in again and turn on the printer. Try a different usb port on the back of the computer if it's a desktop. Reinstall the printer to see if it is recognized by the computer. Any lights or messages on the printer? Can you attach the printer to another computer to see if the computer has the problem?

The expert had in tried reinstalling all those things x3. I dont have another computer to use.

Hi,
Welcome to the community,
please, check the system if it has windows 7 or windows Vista or Windows XP
if you computer has win xp then go to Start>then click on RUN in the list
when the RUN box appears on the screen type the command 'services.msc'
if you are using windows vista or windows 7, then go to start menu and in that menu
you will see a dialog box at the very bottom of the screen, in that box type services
and click on services that appears on the screen at the top
when you reach the service screen, in that screen there is an option called print spooler, check the status of the service, it should say Started and Automatic, if if is not started, then right click the print spooler service and select properties
the window that opens on the computer select Automatic from the drop down list
and then click on start and then close the services screen
then go to control panel by clicking on start menu and then go to printer and faxes and check if the printer (942 AIO printer) is listed in there or not
if you see the name AIO printer 942 in the list then try to print something from the computer and see if it works
if the printer do not respond to the print command then go the following link:
support.microsoft.com/fixit
and from the list which says What are you trying to do?
choose the option Print, Fax, scan, Share or save
then select Diagnose and fix printer and printing problems automatically
download the software to desktop and then run it and restart the system and it should resolve the issue
the error msg that you are getting when you try to print something do not imply that it is a problem with the printer it can be an issue with the softwares on the system
in order to check if printer works or not try and make a standalone copy and then check the status if the printer is making standalone copy there is nothing wrong with device
even after following the above step if the issue with the printer is not resolved, then uninstall the Windows Operating system and reinstall it and then reinstall the printer
