this is what i want to get http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=3ADDC7B7A5CA7304\
Manual http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim9100/en/SM/specs.htm#wp1053343
Also, can i get core 2 duo with dell D-9100?
Thanks in advance,

The Ballistix memory shown in your link HERE should be fine for your 9100.
The Dimension 9100 does not support any Intel Core 2 Duo, or Core 2 Quad processors.

shesagordie,
I'm puzzled by this statement. It seems that a number of people on this Forum have had luck updating the Bios on their original 9100 motherboards to A03, disabling Hyperthreading and then simply dropping in a Core 2 Duo chip.
From what I can tell, since the original motherboard (0X8582) uses an Intel i945P chipset, you could only go up as far as an E6600 or E6700 processor, but that's a lot better than a D830 which a lot of them had, including mine.
I was going to try a Core 2 Extreme X6800 since that is also compatible with the 945P chipset.
You seem like the most knowlegeble person around here... What am I missing here?

One or two members have claimed to get Core 2 Duo to work, but others have also failed.
Case in point is the discussion HERE, the first post states, yes, a C2D will work, while the posts by jmsandrsn and -Krugmeister-, states the upgrade failed.
To me, it's an 'iffy' situation, that should be only be used, if a person is willing to take a chance on the outcome.
