Dell Dimension 3000, no Internet

I have a Dell 3000 desktop. Having no success connecting to the internet. The "Network Connections" show that I am connected but cannot access the internet. Could the ethernet card be bad? Also have tried wireless adapters, but think the USB port might be bad too. Is something possible fried in this computer due to overheating?

To help troubleshoot this problem, on the computer with the problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

Go to www.crucial.com, use their memory finder to see the options.  Crucial guarantee's that memory bought from them will work in your system.

Want to upgrade the memory in my Dimension 4550. Present hardware:

Pentium (R) 4 CPU 2.00 GHz, 1.99 GHz, 256 MB RAM.

Slow as a turtle.

I read through many messages and there seem to be so many combinations, don't know if I can order 1G. Will it work?

Do you mean FSB?  If so, download and run CPUZ from - http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

Near the bottom it will show Rated FSB speed.
