Dell Inspiron 2330 (All in One) Microphone extremely low or not functioning

I just took my AIO out of the box and turned it on.  When I tried to use the microphone I thought it was turned off.  I ran the test included with My Dell and it seemed to record my voice but it was soooo low that I could only hear something that sounded like my voice if it was perfectly quiet.  I adjusted the boost to +30% and the level to 100.  At that point I could hear my voice but it sounded weird and altered.  I tried to turn off the microphone enhancement features but then the mike wouldn't even work anymore.

I uninstalled the drivers and everything worked great.  I went to the DELL site and downloaded the drivers and installed.  Same screens but the same result.  There seems to be something wrong with the drivers right out of the box.  Now, I can't get any of the extra functionality that comes from having the audio drivers.
