That is correct, it will not work. It has to be non bufffered, non EEC to work in the system. I looked at your Ebay link and scrolled down to the explanation. It stated that it is for servers only and not desktops. It also provided a link to the non EEC ram. Here is the maximum amount of ram and correct type for you  pc., If you have the 530, you can have 2 gig.

www.ebay.com/.../260591339335 or you can use www.crucial.com or www.memory.com to compare prices.

IF you have the 530S for slim tower, this is what you can have. 4 gig. but only if you have the s.

Hi 1fastformula,

Check to make sure the ram sticks are properly seated and the locks on both sides are locked in. Are you sure this the correct ram for this pc?

The latest bios update was 3-11-2009 and is number 1.0.18  at this link.

I would suggest before you flash your bios reading this article. Flashing the bios can permanently ruin a pc.

Go to www.crucial.com and let it scan your pc for free and it will tell you exactly what ram you need. The ram you have may not be correct for your pc.

They were properly seated, and all I know about the RAM is that they are Samsung DDR2 1GB RAM cards.I'm currently running the system on the old RAM, maybe the BIOS is to old perhaps?

I did the BIOS update, everything is working as normal.  I watched a support video from this site, I'll be sure to look at crucial.

It turns out I had the right RAM to begin with.

That's the RAM I purchased, so if its EEC registered it will not work?

This link is for the manual for your pc. Click on memory and review it. It does show that only non buffered, non EEC ram can be used.

The manuel shows that you would have had to remove the PCI express X16 card to get to the ram. Make sure that is properly seated and locked.

The support video`s are very helpful.

I realized it was for a server after I ordered it. And that's weird because my buddy has a regular 530 with 3.5 Gigs. And I do have the 530s but it's not in the same case, I transferred it all to a new case I had.

The 530 has a bigger case and a bigger motherboard. He actually has 4 gig or ram installed. The video card shares some of that so it reports a little less, but it`s there. I think the 2 gig must be a misprint on the 530 manuel.

 on your 530s.

No, to fully utilize 4gb of memory, you need to be using a 64-bit operating system.
