Dell Inspiron GPU recommendation

Hello!

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 (not slim).

After so many years my graphics card Nvidia Geforce 8300 gs  seems to have died so I'm looking for recommendations on modern ones to replace it that are compatible with my pc.

Not necessarily looking for an upgrade but since this is an old gpu I'm hoping there are better quality ones out by now. But I'm not looking to go as far as upgrading my pcu to accommodate it.

Would prefer to stick with Nvidia since that's what I've always had and the transfer would be easier. But if there are other brand graphics cards that are significantly better value then I'm open to that.

Some info:

Screen resolution: 1440x900

Either 300w or 350w.

Budget: Hoping not to spend more than £50.

Use: I'm not a gamer but would like a card that gives decent graphics for videos and films. Did own the Sims 2 so would like good graphics for that.

The nvidia 8300 gs worked well for me and lasted a long time about 5 - 6 years so looking for a modern equivalent that is ideally just as stable and durable.

From research, ones I've seen mentioned are: geforce 210, GT 620 and GT 630 (all nvidia)

Thank you

The JATON Video-PX658-DLP-EX GeForce GT 630 2GB 128-Bit DDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card should work well with either a 300w, 350w power supply.

My preference would be to install a full size card in the mini tower versus a smaller low profile design because the tend to run cooler.  I would choose the EVGA one HERE.  But the GT 630 would be the way to go and not the others.

Thanks for your quick response Bev!

I've had a look for the Jaton GT 630 and also come across the ASUS and Palit GT 630 which all seem to have 'nvidia geforce' attached to their names. This may be a silly question but is it that the Jaton specifically works for my computer specs or will any of these work too?

No, the Jaton video card is not made specifically for your computer, it has the specifications to make compatible with the Inspiron 530 Mini Tower.

I also have 530 MT and been using a Radeon HD 7750 video card for around a year, without any issues, but I believe this card has now reached it's EOL and may not be readily available.

I don't like Asus, I've had issues with their cards in the past, the Palit 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT
630 Graphics Card
should also work in the 530MT

Thanks Bev and Kelbear1!

If my current gpu is well and truly dead then I'll go for the EVGA GT 630. I've had a look at reviews and that seems like a great fit.

You've been a great help!
