Dell Inspiron one 19t errors

Hello Everyone,

I have a Dell inpiron 19 touch screen, and it will not reboot do to an inaccessible device at the error recovery screen. I am an amateur as this is the first time I am trying to fix a computer, but this is what I found out. The advanced options did not work and neither did anything else. I ran a diagnostics test, and these are the errors that I got.

Error Code 0146

MSG: Error code 2000-0146

Hard Drive 1- Self test log contains previous error(s)

Error code 0f00: 1344

MSG Disk- Block 211822976: Can't read, replace disk

Drive failed to perform confidence test properly: This may indicate that the drive needs to be replaced

Error code 0f00: 0244

Msg Disk-block 211822976 can't read, replace disk

Read Test**

no additional sense information

Test results fail

Error code 0f00: 0244 ( unless I wrote the same thing twice by accident, this is the same code and msg as previous error above.)

Verify Test**

Error Code 0f00: 1A44

Msg: Disk-Block 211822976: Can't read, replace disk

So I am guessing they are telling me to replace the hard drive, if so, is this the right replacement for this computer? Seagate Barracuda 500 GB Internal hard drive Serial ATA-300 3.5" ... Through entering my set up, I found the GB on my computer to be 500.1 and it says SATA/300

I heard that it was normal to have the .1 GB behind the 500, so I think both of those are correct, and it is a desktop so I am pretty sure it would be 3.5". I also went through a site (can't remember which one)  that has a chart with the correct drives for certain computers, and this seagate Barracuda drive was what showed up for my computer.

The computer no longer has a warranty, and I was wondering if I should go through with replacing the Hard Drive, or try something else. All suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated, and thanks for your response.

You are welcome Justin1792. This system’s hdd has Sata2 configuration. The one that you have mentioned is a Sata3 hdd and it will work without any issues but will perform as per Sata2 speed i.e

SATA 2 = 3 Gbit/s, max 300MB/s.
SATA 3 = 6 Gbit/s, max 600MB/s.

You are welcome Justin1792. Yes by the detailed explanation what you have given the hard drive seems to have gone bad so replacing it would fix the issue. If the recovery disks came with your system it should definitely work without any hassles.

Thanks for the response. Will replacing the hard drive solve my problems, and will my recovery disks work with a new drive?

Thank you, your responses definitely helped, one last thing though, do you know if the hard drive I have shown is the correct one to replace it with?

I need to save a little money before I can get the new drive, but I will post my results within the next few weeks. Your responses were very helpful, thanks again.
