Dell OptiPlex 760 ultra small form factor possible to add ddr3 ram to it?
Hi everyone,
I have an old OptiPlex 760 ultra small form factor and I just installed windows 10 which runs smooth most of the time.
This OptiPlex 760 has an Intel Core Duo E8600 CPU in it. I have been googling and if I understand correcty ,this CPU supports both ddr2 and ddr3 ram. Does this mean that I can put ddr3 ram in this machine?
Also I wonder if I can add more than 4gb of ram to it. I know that officially it says max supported ram is 4gb but if I look at my MacBook it says max supported ram is 8 gb and I have 16gb in it.
So I wonder if this is the same case with my OptiPlex.
Thanks.

It depends on the chipset and since Crucial is only offering DDR2 RAM for this system...
It may or not work with more than 4 GB. So look around these forums to see if anyone has been successful with more than 4 GB. At the least, buy it from a source that will take it back if 8 GB doesn't work.
And don't compare Apples and... :emotion-4:
