Dell Optiplex 380 network driver

I am a computer technician rebuilding a clients 64 bit Windows 7 Optiplex 380 that has suffered with the Cryptolocker trojan so needs a reformat.  The built in recovery partition will not work, so I have installed a fresh copy of 64 bit Windows 7, but Device Manager tells me there is no ethernet adaptor installed.  I have, as usual in these cases, been on the Support/ Downloads site using the tag number, and downloaded what appears to be the correct driver, Broadcom 57XX Gigabit Controller, v.16.4.0, A07 and Broadcom 64bit 57XX Driver/BACS combined update package, R296615, but neither will install.  I get a message telling me that it is not supported.  It was working perfectly before the reformat....!

Any ideas please.

Thanks

Tony

Amogh,

I HAVE FOUND IT, and it works.  I googled the hardware ID, sorry, I have forgotten how to do this, and located it on the PCI hardware site, so all is now OK.

Many thanks

Tony

Amogh,

Many thanks for your reply.

I cannot get to the system again until later today, but I am sure there is no separate network card attached to a PCIe slot, it is the usual network adaptor that is built into the motherboard, but will look later, and get the hardware ID's.

Regards

Tony

Hi Tony,

The driver you are trying to install correct driver. The system is shipped with a discrete network card which is connected with the PCIe slot on the motherboard.

It seems that the network card has been replaced. Please share the ‘Hardware ID’ of LAN card by following the steps below:

  • In ‘Device Manager’, right click on Ethernet Controller.
  • Click ‘Properties’.
  • Click ‘Details’.
  • Search for ‘Hardware ID’.
  • Provide the numbers after VEN and DEV.

Keep me posted with the information. I will be glad to assist you.

Amogh,

Ok, the Ethernet adaptor is not a separate card it is the usual built in Ethernet port attached to the motherboard.  There is a graphics card in one of the PCI slots, and the other is empty.  The hardware ID's are as follows;

PCI\VEN_14E&DEV_1692&SUBSYS_04001028&REV_01

PCI\VEN_14E&DEV_1692&SUBSYS_04001028

PCI\VEN_14E&DEV_1692&CC_020000

PCI\VEN_14E&DEV_1692&CC_0200

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Tony

I have a similar issue. After reinstalling the OS WIN 7 in Optiplex 380, Ethernet Controller under Device Manager is not coming up.

Hardware IDs are as follows.

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1692&SUBSYS_04001028&REV_01

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1692&SUBSYS_04001028

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1692&CC_020000

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1692&CC_0200

I could not find the driver in BroadCom because this indicates it is a Broadcom

How can I bring up the controller and get into connect to internet?
