Hi Sakkas1,

According to Crucial, your system requires DDR2 PC2-5300 (non-ECC).

Hello SAKKAS1,

Could you confirm if your system is a USFF (Ultra Small Form Factor) or is it a desktop, Mini-tower (MT) or Small Form Factor SFF?

IMO, 2GB modules work only in USFF models. So try installing a single module to check if the both the modules cause the issue or it is just one of them. As suggested in the other post, I do agree PC2-5300 is the max speed recommended for this system so try going with 667MHz memory rather 800MHz.

Looking forward to your reply.

Ram working or not has nothing to do with size and everything to do with BIOS version. If your old ram works update to BIOS A11 BEFORE trying to add 2 Gig modules. BIOS update should be done with XP.

2 Gig modules require BIOS A11

3.5 gigs is the max ram you get in a 620

Bios A11 will SEE 8 gigs of ram but any os including 64 bit versions WILL NOT work with that ram.

The good news is for GX520's and Smaller form factor 620's you can get to 3.5 gigs using 2 X 2 Gig Un buffered low density NON ECC dimms.

I installed a 2x2gb G.SKILL PC6400 kit in my GX620, with excellent results. I updated the BIOS from a DOS-booted flash stick.

Until you update to BIOS A11 it will refuse to see the ram. The maximum ram using 2 gig dimms is 3.50 gigs.  Putting 8 in a tower is futile because it will not use the ram.  The ram goes in White ear slots first then the black ear slots.
