Dell Recovery Media - XPS 8500 Win8 - Media Capacity Required

The options for creating Recovery Media are USB Flash Drive, or Discs.

Can anyone advise what capacity is required for the media please?

16 Gig usb flash drive minimum.  Just the OS portion is 12 gigs.

8 gig flash drives are too small.  Standard DVD's are 4 gigs and it tales at least 3. I recommend SANDISK CRUISER FIT Drive.

Around 8 GBs assuming making the recovery media is the first thing you do and you're using the factory image.  Also it depends on how much trial-ware you have.  Two or three DVDs.  I did a clean install of W8 and it cut down on the DVD's needed.  From three to two DVDs.

Thanks! I was actually going to get a 32Gb flash drive, but I had no idea if that was sufficient. PS: the drive you mentioned is a nice tiny unit!

Thanks to you too, Artist1964... as an 'old fart', I've been using the Internet before it was even called 'the Internet', and was - and still am - kinda amazed at how many people are ready and willing to help! Cheers!

You're certainly welcome.  With all this new technology (UEFI/Secure Boot) its nice to find people who want to share their experiences.  Best Wishes.
