Dell XPS 720 RAM Problem

I have a Dell 720 which will only boot with 2GB ram in dimm slot 3.

I have 2GB in Dimm 4 but it only recognises slot 3.

If I put ram in to Dimm one I get no boot and just audible Beeps.

I have changed the ram sticks over and it still only recognises dimm 3 slot.

Are my other dimm slots in-operable? what checks can be made to verify motherboard status?

Do I need another motherboard?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

If you have check each stick - one stick at a time - in slot one, then the slot is bad and you need another motherboard, as the slots are not separately replaceable.  Unusual for more than one slot to suddenly go bad ... did you have some type of an accident or power event?

You might try clearing the NVRAM/CMOS by using the jumper on the motherboard.
