Dell XPS 8500 amber power light

Hello All,

I have a Dell XPS 8500 tower system.   My original issue started when i got 'no bootable device found' during bootup.  I had updated 3 month before to Win 10.  I changed HD but it did not appear to be the issue.   Put original HD back and modified BIOS several times, which at times it would start successfully but it would crash after a couple of days and i would get 'no boot device found' again.  Now, when i try to start PC, plug in power cord I get amber color light in power button.  Mobo light is also amber color.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

delosrec,

Product not tested for Windows 10 upgrade

Dell is not testing or developing Windows 10 drivers for this product. If you choose to upgrade, some features, applications, and connected devices may not work as expected.

For an amber colored power light  below is information.

Thank you much Jesse. After securing all cables and pulling out CR 32 small round battery and put it back in I was able to start the PC,  no more Amber power light issue. However now I'm back to my original issue wish is 'no boot device available' during start up. Already changed bios by pressing F2 for utility setup.  Do you have any ideas, I really appreciate it?

delosrec,

Check the bios settings. Information below.

The XPS™ 8500 is offered with UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface). It is a specification detailing an interface that helps hand off control of the system for the pre-boot environment (i.e.: after the system is powered on, but before the operating system starts) to an operating system, such as Windows or Linux.

UEFI provides a clean interface between operating systems and platform firmware at boot time, and supports an architecture-independent mechanism for initializing add-in cards.

NOTE:

The default Boot Mode is set to UEFI and the operating system is installed in the UEFI Mode from the factory. The System will display the following error if the Operating System was installed in UEFI Mode and the Boot Mode has been changed to Legacy or Vice Versa.

No Boot error message due to wrong Boot Mode.
To correct this error, The user needs to change the Boot Mode in the System Setup from Legacy to UEFI Mode.

Jesse, thank you once again for your feedback...

My Boot Mode in the System Setup has always been UEFI Mode.
