Dell XPS 8900 Desktop - upgrade wireless card - which 5GHz cards are compatible?

I acquired a Dell XPS 8900 Special Edition Desktop

(i7-6700; 16Gb ram; Win10; Gtx960; Dell Wireless 802.11 b/g/n).

I want to upgrade the wireless card to enable a 5GHz-AC connection to my ASUS RT AC87U router.

It looks like usb wireless adapters suffer from disconnection and break downs along the way (got this from reading reviews on amazon)

Can anyone recommend a few new AC wireless cards compatible with this desktop? (head about the Intel 7260 but I dont know if there are newer ones).

Thanks in advance!

I have the Dual Band Intel wireless AC 7260 in two systems.  One of those is a 14 year old Inspiron 1545.  There is also an 8260 which I just used to replace a 3165 which Dell put in a new system.

Be aware, those cards come in two widths.  The newer systems may take one 16 mm wide where prior systems us the 30 mm.  I haven't looked at the service manual for that system, so make sure and check exactly what form factor it needs.  You can tell what size it is if you check the antenna leads.  If they are on the same side of the card it is the smaller one.

Hi GabrielFarias35,

Thanks for posting.

After researching this for you, I see that the TP-Link Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter (TL-WDN4800), the TP-LINK Archer T9E AC1900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter, and the ASUS PCE-AC68 Dual-band are all highly rated.
