Dimension 2400 Keyboard Controller Failure and other problems

Dell Dimension 2400 Bios v A02

Having problems on startup which goes as follows:

Starting the system like so

Attached:
PS2 Keyboard and PS2 Mouse

Activity:
Lights flash on Keyboard
D Led is Amber

Error Message:
Error 8602- Auxillary Device Failure
Keyboard controller failure
Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility

All Led's are green

Error Message:
No error messages, just a blank screen, on start up pressing
F2 or F12 does nothing.

USB Keyboard and Different hard drive with old win 98 install

Lights flash on Keyboard
All Led's are green

Error Message:
Gets into windows but says no ps2 mouse found, doesn't recognise
any keyboard input to continue but i'm nearly sure this is because
the usb kb would need to be installed in windows.

I guess the ps2 ports are knackered, I downloaded the Bios Update v05
and imaged it onto a few different floppies but everytime i boot from
any of the disks it always stops at "Loading Rom Image" the green light
on the floppy drive is lit yet theres no activity from the disk

Have also swapped memory to see if that was causing it with no luck
Have also reset the Bios and changed the CMOS battery, none of which have
made any difference.


Anyone got any Ideas
