Dimension 4500 Processor Upgrade

I was just recently given a P4  2.8 /1MB/533  processor and would like to know if this would work in my machine. What I question is whether or not the L2 cache of 1 MB in this processor would be a problem ?  The specs from the manual are below .

Dell™ Dimension™ 4500

Microprocessor

Microprocessor type

Intel® Pentium® 4 microprocessor that runs at 1.60, 1.70, 1.80, 1.90, 2.00, 2.20, or 2.40 GHz internally and 400 MHz externally; and 2.26, 2.40, 2.53, 2.66, or 2.80 GHz internally and 533 MHz externally.

L1 cache

8 KB first-level

L2 cache

integrated 256-KB or 512-KB at full microprocessor speed

The 4500 845E chipset, supports both Socket 478 400MHz and 533MHz processors up to 3.06GHz @ 533MHz

It does not support P4 Prescotts with a 1mb cache.

You are welcome.

The Dimension 8300 motherboard [ make certain that you get the tray with the motherboard ] should support a Prescott, but you may need to upgrade the BIOS version BIOS A04 or later.
