Dimension 8300 quit working
My Dimension 8300 started to squeal - near the front for the desktop which I think was the CPU Fan. Then suddenly the squealing stopped and the desktop quit working. When I try to start up the desktop everything turns on and the HD light comes on for a couple of seconds then goes out with out booting up. I think my CPU is fried. I have found a site that sells Intel P4's and CPU fans, but I was wonder would this also have damaged my Motherboard?

What is the colour of the power button LED, is it solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber?
Check the sequence of the four Diagnostic Lights on the back of the case.
Are there any 'Beeps'?
The 8300 Troubleshooter and Diagnostic codes are HERE

The power button LED is solid green. I'll have to go to the my office to check the diagnostic lights and beep(s) in the morning.

Hello GPatrickH,
Please let us know the status of the Diagnostics Leds and beeps as suggested by Bev. Based on these information, we can isolate the cause of failure.
Awaiting your response!
