Dimension e510 / 5150 front panel problems
Is there a way to turn on a dimension e510 / 5150 without using Dell's proprietary front panel button? This front panel connects to the mb, but is there a way to turn on the computer directly, at the mb? I have concluded the front panel may be faulty, or its connection at the mb.

I don't think the front panel button is proprietary; what is proprietary is its connection to the motherboard.
I can't think of a way to turn it on without the power button. I do know that the stock power supply is a point of failure, and suggest that you update it if you haven't already. (I'd suggest an 80 Plus-rated unit.)
