Does setting the BIOS "system password" actually set the SATA password?
If I set the BIOS "system password", does that actually set the SATA password? I am using Optiplex 7040's combined with Intel SSD's that leverage the SATA password to encrypt the drive.

No. The two passwords are completely separate.

As best I can tell - there is nowhere in the Optiplex 7040 BIOS to set a SATA password.
