Donot update dell inspiron n5010 to windows 7 service pack 1

updating to windows 7 service pack 1 will cause ac adapter problem which can only be solved by reinstalling windows 7 without service pack 1. So don't update your inspiron n5010 with windows 7 service pack 1 if you guys have any solution please let me know

Hi DARSHAN R,

We don’t have any such issues reported on this particular Model. Please let us know the problem you are facing with AC adapter so that we could address the concern.

when i updated my dell inspiron n5010 to windows 7 service pack 1 the adapter problem started . Then after some days i reinstalled windows 7 and then again i updated the service pack  after a while the ac adapter problem started again so i formated the os and installed the fresh windows 7 which i bought there is no problem even after a week .

so i posted the topic so that people may not buy new adapter for this software problem.

The adapter is completely unrelated to windows service pack 1.  Such issues would show up with the hard drive removed while in F2 bios setup on battery status.

Correct.  But Bios is all that is required to use the AC Adapter and battery.  Windows or Linux or any other software is not related to the ability to charge the battery or not.

Booting into F2 Bios setup Battery Status clearly shows if the Adapter is or isnt working.  It is totally and completely unrelated to windows or service pack versions.  Uninstalling or Installing a service pack is not related to this whatsoever.

ac adapter type cannot be determined your system will operate slower and battery will not charge please connect a dell 90w AC adapter or higher for best system operation

"ac adapter type cannot be determined"  has nothing to do with Windows Service packs.

This message comes from the BIOS.  If you have a 90W adapter then your adapter or motherboard is damaged.

This message can be suppressed in bios but is not "fixed" by hiding the message.

Ensure that your BIOS revision is current i.e. at BIOS Revision. The BIOS updates have increased battery support and also support for 130 W adapters thus it is possible your error message will disappear if using the latest version.
