F1 or F2 flashing at startup on Dell Dimension 4600

I consistently get a flashing F1 and F2 on boot up.

I checked for virus and such and there was nothing. I did research for possible causes of the error.

I opened the tower and cleaned all the dust from everything especially the cpu fan. There was only 1 fan that I

could find inside.

I reinstalled Windows XP Home and after restarting after that I got the same black screen with F1 and F2.

I went into F2 for Setup and opened the event log and it now says "cpu 0 out of range"

How do I fix this?

Run the Dell Diagnostics with the extended hard drive test. Sounds like a hardware failure. It's not cost effective to replace anything major on this old computer. Put the money towards a new one. Computers are cheaper now. However, a new hard drive would be inexpensive to replace.

I ran Dell Diagnostics twice. It did not find any errors.

It says in the system event log "cpu 0 fan out of range"

How do I correct this?

Also it will not let me get into safe mode. I have already reinstalled the OS and that didn't work.

HELP!!!!!

The CPU cooling fan will need to be replaced.
