FX160 w/SUSE - RDP to Windows has terrible resolution
I booted my FX160 into the default SUSE Linux thin client and created an RDP connection through the "Add a Connection" icon. Once connected, the resolution of the window looks worse than an 8-bit color depth. I have the following set (and their respective places):
- FX160 - 256 MB Shared Video Memory
- SUSE Linux (Add a Connection) - LAN connection with 24 bit color depth
- Windows Client - 1280x1024 60Hz, 32-bit and 24-bit color (I tried both)
Is anyone else having similar results?
Are there updates to the SUSE Linux that I have to make? The support website does not have SUSE Linux as an option in the download section.
Thanks in advance,
-Steve

here is my summary of the problem as snipped from an email:
we identified an issue on our FX160 (embedded SUSE Linux) thin clients where the tsclient application does not support better than 8-bit color when connecting via RDP to a Windows 2003/2008 server. the tsclient wrapper fails to properly pass/save the preferred bit depth to rdesktop. we can work around this by creating a custom connection that issues a command like this: "rdesktop -u username server1.foo.com -x l -a 24".
this update fixes that problem:http://tiny.cc/Mqgem
some other issues with the FX160 SUSE you may run into:
* video does not properly scale on wide screen monitor
* audio redirection over terminal services/RDP not working
* unit will not come out of sleep state when power management features are engaged
