If you try to open an .ext file doesn't it give you the "open with" program list? You should be able to choose any text program (wordpad might be best). If you want the chosen text program to always open files of this type just check the box.

From what I've been able to find, *.ext is a Norton Commander file type. I don't use Norton, but perhaps someone who does can figure out what part of Norton this is from or for and how to open it.
