Hard Drive failed with no warning
I have a Inspiron 530. It came with a 250 GB 7200 RPM SATA II harddrive that failed with no warning. I have tried to recover the date but it doesnt even show that the drive is there. I have decided to replace with another drive.
I have narrowed my search to two choices
Western Digital WD15EARS Caviar Green Hard Drive - 1.5TB, 3.5", SATA-3G
Western Digital WD10EARS Caviar Green Hard Drive - 1TB, 3.5", SATA 3G, 64MB Cache, GreenPower
I upgraded my processor to intel 2.5gh xeon , 3GB memory, and Windows 7 Ultimate. Can my system handle a 1TB or higher drive?

You should be able to handle any of those drives.

How did you try to recover the data?
Are you sure this is a hard drive failure and not a BIOS problem? Reboot and press F2 to open BIOS setup. Look to see if the hard drive shows up in BIOS. If not, you might want to reseat the power and data cables to the hard drive. Be sure to power off, unplug. and press/hold power button for ~15 sec before working inside the case.
And you also may want to remove the motherboard battery and press/hold the power again for ~30 sec. After reinstalling the battery (right-side-up!) see if the hard drive is recognized now.

Yes. Your system can handle 1TB HDD without facing any problem.
