Hard drive error in Diagnostics (Error code: 2000-0142)

So I got the following error:

Error code: 2000-0142

Validation: 75192

Msg: Hard drive 0 - S/N S0V5YG8T, Short self test unsuccessful.

Technical support will need this information to diagnose the problem. Please record the above Error and Validation codes.

Do you want to continue testing?

Please tell me I don't have to replace my hard drive... I've purchased this laptop on March 2014, so its barely been 9 months....

My computer was working fine last night, then when I went to turn it on this morning, it got stuck in the "Dell" startup screen, where I entered diagnostics via f12.

Hi Tony926,

Yep, the drive's bad. Call Dell and they'll replace it under warranty.

Seriously, sorry that this has happened. Hard drives can die at any time, which is why it's so important to back up your important files. I trust you've done that.

Hello, well I'm unsure if I backed it up, but I remember doing the dell backup thing which I assume backed up my files.. I hope.

I didn't purchase the computer in the USA and I am currently not in the USA, would I be able to get a replacement through a dell service center in my country (philippines)?

Call Dell tech support in your country and I'm sure they can help.
