How do I improve performance of Dell Dimesion 3000?
I have a Dell Dimension 3000 with the following spec -
System
Microsoft Windows XP (Home edition) - version 2002, service pack 3
Intel Pentium 4CPU - 3.00 GHz, 512Mb RAM
160GB Hard Drive (27 Gb used)
Performance has slowed up recently, especially at start up and when running with more than 2 applications open.
I recently had a message that indicated that my "virtual Memory" was running low
What can I do to improve the performance and response times?
Thanks

many thanks ieee488.
The site appears to be unavailable at the moment but will try again later. I see from the google "headlines" that Crucial use a system scanner to recommend upgarde options.
Can I ask you view on how "safe" this is - I'm assuming that they are completely reputable and that I should stop hesitiating and just get on with it?

The best and easiest thing to do on the crucial site is to simply specify the system that you wish to upgrade. Choose Dell->Dimension->3000. Then choose PC-3200 RAM. Two GB is around $80 and will help your system work much better.
